Nimesh is a talented batting all-rounder who played 63 professional matches in Sri Lanka between 2016 and 2022.
An intelligent cricketer, Nimesh bats in the middle order and bowls brisk seam up. Over his 30 first class, and 16 List A matches, he averaged 26.97 and 31.63 with the bat, respectively.
A former schoolboy prodigy, Nimesh was a stand-out for the prestigious Royal Pandura College – skippering each of the age-group sides. He went on to captain the Sri Lanka Under-15’s, and vice-captain the Under-17’s on their Malaysian and UK tours, respectively. Nimesh was then named in the Sri Lankan Under-19 World Cup squad but failed to make the final touring party.
In December 2016, Nimesh made his professional debut and went on to play 63 matches for sides including Panadura Sports Club, Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club, and Kalutara Town.
Nimesh is a very competent all-rounder who enjoyed his maiden UK stint in 2021 playing for Home Counties Premier League club Finchampstead, averaging 28.33, and 25.21 with bat and ball respectively. He enjoyed decent success which he replicated during his second UK stint in 2022 for Killyclooney in the North West Cricket Union.
Over the past two seasons, he has continued to shine abroad, initially for Maghull Cricket Club in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition (639 runs at 30.43 and 25 wickets at 15.72) before a strong stint with Potterne in the West of England Premier League (931 runs at 44.33 and 24 wickets at 22.50).
Courtesy of his success, Potterne has re-signed the Sri Lankan all-rounder as their 2nd XI overseas for the 2025 season.
