Sukhjit “Sunny” Singh is a seasoned left-arm spinner and useful lower-order batter whose cricket journey is as inspiring as it is impressive. Born in Punjab and moving to England at the age of 10 without speaking a word of English, he found his way into the game through the Chance to Shine programme — a pathway that eventually took him all the way to the professional ranks with Warwickshire. After progressing through the county’s U16s and academy, Sunny made his Championship debut in 2017, becoming the first player to reach that level from the Chance to Shine initiative. That season, he claimed two first-class five-wicket hauls, against Hampshire and Somerset, earning a contract extension before moving on from the county game in 2018.
At club level, Sunny has been a consistent wicket-taker for more than a decade. He starred for Smethwick in the Birmingham League, taking 177 wickets at 21.31 and chipping in with valuable lower-order runs, including a memorable 107* from number eight in 2018. More recently, he has excelled across different leagues, claiming 53 wickets at 18.51 for New Brighton in the Liverpool Competition, 32 wickets at 24.25 for J & G Meakins in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League, and 40 wickets at a miserly 11.70 for St George’s in the Shropshire League, alongside useful contributions with the bat.
Highly experienced and proven in a range of conditions, Sunny is now seeking a fresh challenge for the 2026 season, offering any club a match-winning spinner with a wealth of experience and a remarkable personal story.
