Folkestone is delighted to announce the signing of former Bangladeshi first-class, now Category 1 local player Ruman Ahmed, for their 2024 Kent League campaign.
Ahmed is a talented batter and useful off-spinner, who relocated to England on a spouse visa in early 2021 to join his British Wife.
The Kent (Ashford) based former Bangladeshi professional is looking to make waves in English club cricket over the next few years.
Ahmed played first-class cricket for the best part of a decade, playing 39 matches since his debut in 2009. During this period, he scored 1,614 runs at 26.03 with a century (106) and 10 fifties.
He enjoyed three prolific seasons, hitting 349 runs at 38.77 (2014/15), 375 runs at 41.66 (2015/16), and 226 runs at 25.11 (2016/17), but only featured in 3 first-class matches thereafter.
A former Bangladesh Under-23 representative, Ahmed was a star performer in the Sylhet League, hitting 2 double centuries in 50-over matches. He was also part of Sylhet Division’s victorious National League campaign in 2018/19.
A hard-working, and highly driven cricketer, during his first UK stint in 2021 he scored 582 runs at 25.30 for Glossop in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.
Over the past two seasons he’s been prolific for Ashton in the GMCL, racking up 1,997 runs at 46.44 in League and Cup cricket, including a sensational double hundred (200*).
Next summer, now a Cat 1 local player, Ahmed is set to join Folkestone where he’ll be looking to mark is mark throughout the 2024 Kent League campaign.
