Abu Jayed is a former Bangladesh Test seamer who is targeting a return to UK club cricket in 2026 following a successful stint with Gloucester CC in the 2025 season.
A right-arm swing bowler with international pedigree, Jayed represented Bangladesh in 18 matches between 2018 and 2021, including 13 Tests, where he claimed 30 wickets at 37.26 with best figures of 4-71. Across all formats, he took 39 international wickets before his final appearance in November 2021.
While no longer part of the national setup, Jayed remains a key figure in Bangladesh’s domestic scene. In recent seasons, he has continued to impress with first-class returns of 22 wickets at 26.40 (2022/23), 26 wickets at 27.75 (2023/24) and 7 wickets at 20.71 (2024/25), pushing his career tally to 317 wickets at 29.23 from 110 first-class matches over more than a decade.
Throughout his career, Jayed has lifted multiple titles, including the Tri-Nations Series, Bangladesh Premier League, and Bangladesh Cricket League, and has proven to be a valuable asset in all formats. A handy lower-order batter, he also notched his career-best first-class score of 69 in November 2023 — one of two red-ball fifties to his name.
Jayed made his UK debut in 2023 with Barnards Green in the Birmingham League, taking 30 wickets at 26.57. In 2025, he joined Gloucester in the West of England Premier League and has continued to shine, with 21 wickets at 21.14 and a top score of 99 with the bat (as of August 2025).
With a wealth of experience and a proven record at both international and domestic level, Jayed is eager to build on his UK success with another strong season in 2026.
