Abu Jayed is a former Bangladesh Test seamer seeking a UK return in 2024 following his Birmingham League stint last summer.
The right-arm swing bowler represented Bangladesh in 18 matches, including 13 Tests, between 2018 and his final match in November 2021. During this period, Jayed bagged 39 wickets - 30 at 37.26 with best figures of 4-71 in Test cricket.
Whilst the seamer hasn't featured for Bangladesh since, he continues to excel in domestic cricket, with season first-class tallies of 22 wickets at 26.40 (2022/23), and 26 wickets at 27.75 (2023/24). His first-class tally now stands at 310 wickets at 29.43 in 110 games spanning more than a decade.
During his illustrious career, alongside his exploits on the international scene, Jayed has been a Tri-Nations Series, Bangladesh Premier League, and Bangladesh Cricket League winner. He boasts excellent numbers across the three formats, and recently showed his has ability with the bat scoring a first-class best of 69 (Nov 2023) - his second red ball fifty plus score.
The Bangladesh star headed to England last summer to play his maiden UK league stint. Playing for Birmingham League powerhouse Barnards Green, he picked up 30 wickets at 26.57 over the season and also successfully completed his ECB Core Coach accreditation.
Given his success last season, Jayed is now eager to return for a second UK stint in 2024.
