Anthony Quinn is a 6’1” seamer, with the ability to swing the ball both ways at a consistent pace, who caught the eye of former Auckland Aces Coach Tony Sail during his school years. He has since played for Cornwall Cricket Club, widely regarded as one of the strongest clubs across the country. Quinn has the added benefit of holding a British Passport.
His talent was first noticed at school where he, like his brother (Matt Quinn – for Aces, now Kent quick), was plucked from social grades and placed in the schools 2nd XI, very quickly moving into the 1st XI after some strong performances. Following a prolific final year at school, which included being the highest wicket-taker at the Marist Cricket Carnival, he was awarded “bowler of the year” and subsequently earned Auckland Central and Auckland age-group honours.
After predominantly playing Premier Reserves, he made the successful step-up to Cornwall's Premier side in 2020/21, playing alongside the likes of Michael Guptill-Bunce (Auckland), and Freddie Klaassen (Netherlands). Quinn was set to play the 2022 season in Durham Premier league, unfortunately having to return home after first game of season due to Injury. Anthony has since fully recovered and got straight back into a high level of cricket helping secure a first ever Sweep of the 2023/2024 Auckland Premier Reserve Comp for his local club, winning the T20, 50 over and 2 day competition.
Holder of a British Passport, the promising quick excelled during the last three seasons abroad (2017-19). He spent the first two of these in the Sussex League for Barns Green, taking 72 wickets at 11.67 (2017) and 49 wickets at 13.59 (2018), before a stint in the Netherlands in 2019. Playing for one of the oldest clubs in Holland, Rood en Wit, Quinn starred, finishing as the Hoofdklasse's leading wicket-taker, with 38 wickets at 9.74, to include best figures of 7-22.
The Kiwi is currently playing in Western Australia for Dunsborough Cricket Club, and has starred at the half way stage of the season with a remarkable 36 wickets at 6. The WA side have moved quickly to try and re-sign Quinn for next season already.
The Kiwi is now keen to return to the UK or EU for the 2025 season. He will be travelling with his partner so will need suitable accommodation.
