Billy Syme is an exceptional young all-rounder from Tauranga, New Zealand.
A genuine all-rounder, Syme is a right-handed top-order batter, who also bowls right-arm medium pace. Currently playing for Greerton Cricket Club in the Bay Of Plenty Premier Competition, the 18-year-old is a recent graduate of the well renowned Tauranga Boys College.
During the 2022/23 season, and after only a year as a student at TBC, Billy was part of the most successful team since current Black Cap Kane Williamson led the school back in 2006. Coming second in the 2022/23 National Competition (Gilette Cup), Billy was awarded MVP, racking up 231 runs at an average of 77.00, which included an unbeaten 107* against Otago Boys College.
The then 17-year-old went on to cap off a fantastic season, as he was awarded his first Hawke Cup appearance for the Bay Of Plenty, before also securing a spot in the Northern Districts U19 team. Now a former pupil of 'TBC', Billy has finished his time at high school and is looking to head to the Northern Hemisphere to continue his Cricket development.
With previous overseas experience under his belt, the all-rounder has also represented his country at both U18 & U23 level playing indoor cricket. No doubt an extremely exciting prospect, Billy is certainly an individual we expect to continue to push for higher honours in the near future.
