Cate Pedersen is a hugely exciting top-order batter playing for the Central Districts Hinds in New Zealand domestic cricket.
Pedersen was rewarded with her first Hinds contract in the 2022/23 summer, following a glittering junior career for both Hawkes Bay and Central Districts, and has since established herself as a regular in the Hinds top order.
For CD, she was amongst the highest run-scorers at the National U15 tournament and was named MVP. She scored an unbeaten 100* in the national U18 final, then topped the U19 tournament run charts in 2020, culminating with New Zealand U19 selection.
Pedersen has also excelled for Hawkes Bay at representative level, and in 2021/22 was awarded the "Batting" and "Players' Player" awards. She also topped the charts at club level for Napier Tech Cricket Club Women to earn the batting award, and has represented Auckland Women at List A and T20 level.
Whilst at University in Auckland, she also features for Parnell Cricket Club. In 2021/22 she averaged over 50 in her competition with a highest score of 110.
The former Hawkes Bay Secondary School "Female Player of the Year" (2018), and CD "U19s Women's Player of the Year" (2020/21), is a serious prospect who has firmly established herself within the Hinds set-up.
Pedersen played her first season abroad in 2026, turning out for Rush in Ireland's Leinster League, and excelled — finishing the campaign with 653 runs at an average of 54.42 and a strike rate of 136.33, including nine half-centuries and a top score of 77*. Having enjoyed her time there, she's now set on a Rush return for the 2027 season.
