Chanaka Komasaru is a high quality left arm spinner with an exceptional record at both first class level and as a professional in the UK.
His record demonstrates not only his quality but also his remarkable consistency which has lead him to be recognised as one of his countries best ever domestic spinners. At the time of writing he has well over 1,000 professional wickets to his name and is still going strong.
In first class cricket he has taken a staggering 745 wickets at an average of 22.52. He has taken an incredible 49 five wicket hauls and has also taken 10 wickets in a match x10 times, simply incredible. His recent form is also top class, evidence that he shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. He has taken 24 wickets in his last three first class games alone, and stole the show yet again with 7/46 vs Colts Cricket Club in January 2025. He has also excelled in white ball cricket, currently sitting on 172 'list a' wickets at an average of 17.76.
It is not just at home where Chanaka has excelled. to nobody's surprise he has also dominated in the UK as an overseas professional, enjoying two prolific stints for Sandyford CC in the strong North Staffs & South Cheshire League. In 2015 he took 78 wickets at an average of 11.49 and returned in 2016 with similar success, taking 67 wickets at an average of 10.66, serious numbers. Whilst known for his bowling, Chanaka did show his batting prowess and managed to contribute some good runs including a couple of half centuries during his time in Staffordshire. he was also incredibly well received by the club off the pitch and he would add a lot of value both as a character and a coach to any club this coming summer.
Chanaka is without doubt one of the best SLA options available to UK clubs for 2025 and is someone we recommend extremely highly.
