He also represented Somerset at Second XI level on five occasions, gaining valuable exposure within the county structure.
Charlie possesses the ability to score quickly and put opposition attacks under immediate pressure, while also demonstrating the temperament to occupy the crease when required. Although he enjoys the white-ball formats, his preferred format is the longer version of the game, where he can fully showcase his talent.
Following his release from Somerset, Charlie spent a brief period with Worcestershire County Cricket Club, narrowly missing out on securing a contract. He subsequently moved to Bridgwater Cricket Club, one of the powerhouses of the West of England Premier League, while studying at the University of Exeter, where he represented the First XI throughout his time there.
Ahead of the 2025 season, Charlie made the move to Penzance Cricket Club in Cornwall. He enjoyed a highly successful campaign, scoring over 507 runs, including a highest score of 124 not out. He played a pivotal role in helping the club reach the ECB National Club Final at Lord's Cricket Ground, narrowly falling short on the day.
Set to graduate this summer, Charlie is now targeting a season in Australia to gain valuable overseas experience, continue his development, and work towards breaking back into a county setup.
With proven county and ECB Premier League pedigree, Charlie Sharland would be a standout signing for any club seeking a high-quality top-order batter for the 2026/27 season.
