Danal Hemananda is an exceptional prospect playing for Ace Capital in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. He is currently into his maiden season for the Club following stints with Burgher Recreation Club and Police Sports Club, previously.
A former Sri Lankan Under-19 star, Hemananda is a genuine all-rounder. He is a left-arm seamer, and hard-hitting left-handed batter, who has already made quite an impact in domestic cricket.
Following a strong showing in T20 cricket (6 wickets at 15.16) in March 2021, he struck 51 on his first-class debut, batting at number 4. He would then move to Burgher Recreation Club for the 2022/23 season, and would impress hitting 321 runs at 29.18, albeit bowling opportunities were limited, prompting a move back to Police for the 2023/24 season.
In February 2024, Hemananda was picked up to represent the Sri Lankan Cricket Development XI against the touring Ugandan side. He was a stand-out performer, topping the wicket charts in their 7-match series with 10 wickets at 9.90.
He made another move, this time to Ace Capital for the 2024 white ball campaigns, and he impressed particularly in the T20 format. In May/June 2024, he helped his side to the Sri Lanka Cricket Major Clubs T20 quarter finals with 4 wickets at 10, following his 5 wickets at 17.80 for Police Sports club the previous season.
It's fair to say, Hemananda is going to be a star for the future, and as part of his cricketing development is eager to spend a season plying his trade in UK club cricket. He would be an exciting signing given his pedigree and potential – plus someone we feel could excel in UK club cricket.
