Dileepa Jayalath is a gifted left-arm spinner making waves in Sri Lanka’s domestic scene with Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club. His breakthrough came during the 2022 Major Club Emerging 3-Day tournament, where he dazzled with career-best match figures of 10 wickets against Negombo, finishing the tournament as one of the leading wicket-takers with 23 scalps at 22.04. Jayalath’s rise wasn’t a surprise to those who’ve followed his journey — he had already topped Bloomfield’s wickets in the 2021 SLC Limited Overs Tournament and shone as a key player in provincial under-19 and under-23 squads.

A former standout at Ananda College, where he led his school’s bowling in their U19 championship win, Jayalath’s leadership qualities also saw him captain Bloomfield’s Under-23 side. Despite the disruption caused by COVID, he quickly bounced back, becoming a vital force for Bloomfield domestically.

Jayalath’s impact extends beyond Sri Lanka. His spells in the UK have been impressive, starting with a dominant stint at Orrell Red Triangle in the Liverpool and District Competition in 2022, where he took 83 wickets and contributed handy runs with the bat. Returning in 2023, he excelled again for Cookham Dean and later Tunbridge Wells in the Kent League, consistently delivering wickets and valuable lower-order runs.

In 2025, Jayalath continued his strong form with Orrell Red Triangle, taking 41 wickets by August, and he is now keen to return to the UK for another successful season in 2026. Known as a smart cricketer with both skill and leadership, Dileepa Jayalath is undoubtedly a strong signing for any club next summer.

Note: Jayalath's eligibility window for UK club cricket (based on 5 FC matches in the last 36 months) remains open until 14 Oct 2025.
