Divyaansh Saxena is an exceptionally talented cricketer involved with the powerhouse Mumbai squad.
Not only a stroke-player of the highest quality, Saxena is an ambidextrous spinner who seems destined for superstardom.
Saxena represented Mumbai through the age groups, and courtesy of his exploits at U19 level, including a double hundred against Delhi, he earned India U19 selection. He struck a brilliant century (122) on his debut against South Africa, an undefeated 128 against Zimbabwe and was his sides second-leading run-scorer at the 2020 U19 World Cup in South Africa. In his 2 Youth Test matches, and 18 ODI's for India, he averaged 47.33 and 53.35, respectively.
In November 2023, he was finally selected to play for Mumbai, and would go on to play 3 Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and his maiden Ranji Trophy (FC) match. On his first-class debut against Maharashtra, he would strike notable scores of 35 and 61. Throughout the 2023 calendar year, Saxena would go on to register 10 centuries, and more than 1,000 runs at U23 State level.
Whilst the former Indian U19 star was beginning to make his claims at home, he was also doing so abroad courtesy of two dominant club stints in England. Playing for Paignton in the Devon League, he would churn out 1,160 runs at 72.50 with 4 hundreds in 2022, in addition to 30 wickets at 17.57 bowling predominantly left arm spin. On his return in 2023, despite a shortened stint due to Mumbai inclusion, he would continue to shine with a further 529 runs at 48.09 and 17 wickets at 20.94.
A hugely talented prospect, the Mumbai all-rounder is hoping to become a State regular this summer (2024/25) and, thereafter, will be seeking a return abroad. He will, though, require another 4 first-class matches to become eligible for an ISP Visa, but if he's unable to play these matches he will be keen to play in Ireland or Holland in 2025.
