Farmanullah Safi is an exciting prospect playing for the star-studded Band-e-Amir Region side in Afghan domestic cricket.
A genuine all-rounder, Safi is an explosive left-handed batter in the middle order, and a sharp right-arm seamer. He has been a key performer for Band-e-Amir since his first-class debut back in November 2017.
The all-rounder has bagged 28 wickets at 38.03 in 15 first-class matches, which represents decent returns given the benign pitches that favour spin over seam in Afghanistan.
With the bat, he was Band-e-Amir's star in the recent Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament final striking 121 - his maiden first-class century, amongst 607 runs at 26.39.
Safi, who has also featured in white ball cricket for the likes of Amo Sharks, Kabul Eagles, and Band-e-Amir Dragons, is clearly seen as a future national prospect having earned ACB Chairman’s XI selection in 2021/22.
In order to continue his developments, Safi headed to the UK in 2023, but unfortunately was re-called by ACB after playing just the 2 matches for Bankfoot in the Bradford League.
He is therefore ineligible to return to the UK next summer, but is eager to secure opportunities elsewhere.
