Farmanullah Safi

Farmanullah Safi is a rising all-rounder making his mark across both Afghanistan’s domestic cricket scene and the global franchise circuit.

A powerful left-handed middle-order batter and lively right-arm seamer, Safi has been a consistent performer since making his first-class debut in 2017. His all-round ability earned him an international opportunity in November 2025, when he was selected to represent Afghanistan in a one-off T20I against Qatar. He made an immediate impression, scoring 12 from 10 deliveries and returning figures of 2-19 (3.2 overs).

Remarkably, that remains Safi’s only international appearance to date, although he has continued to impress on the domestic circuit. With the ball, he has taken 44 wickets at 37.52 in 26 first-class matches — solid returns given Afghanistan’s traditionally spin-friendly conditions. With the bat, he has accumulated 1,096 runs at 27.40, including a maiden century of 121 in the 2024 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day Tournament final for Band-e-Amir, where his contribution proved match-winning.

Safi has also featured in white-ball cricket for Amo Sharks, Kabul Eagles, Band-e-Amir Dragons, Mah-e-Par Stars and Mis Ainak Knights. His potential was recognised at national level through his selection for the ACB Chairman’s XI in 2021/22.

In 2023, Safi ventured to the UK, although his spell was cut short following an early recall after just two appearances for Bankfoot in the Bradford League. More recently, he made his franchise cricket debut in the 2024/25 Bangladesh Premier League, representing the Dhaka Capitals across seven matches and contributing effectively with both bat and ball.

Now firmly on the radar, Safi is eager to build on his growing reputation and explore further opportunities on the global stage. With his ability to contribute in both disciplines, he represents an exciting all-round option for clubs and franchises looking to add proven Afghan talent to their ranks.
