Harindu Jayasekara is an exciting prospect who represented Sri Lankan U19s and, after stints with Chilaw Marians and Kandy Customs, is set to play for Moors Sports Club this summer.

Hailing from St. Thomas' College, Matara, with whom he dominated age-group cricket, Jayasekara was picked for the Sri Lankan U19s in October 2021. He opened the batting in two 50-over matches against Bangladesh, in a side that featured current Sri Lankan internationals Shevon Daniel and Matheesha Pathirana.

Having excelled for Chilaw Marians U23s in Sri Lanka's Emerging Three Day Tournament (Feb 2022), he would go on to play his senior debuts throughout the 2022 calendar year. In June 2022, he would break into Chilaw's T20 side of their Major Clubs T20 Tournament, then the following month would feature in their Limited Overs Tournament. In September 2022, Jayasekara would go on to play red ball cricket for Chilaw in the SLC Major League Tournament.

Despite some useful performances throughout the 2022/23 summer, he has yet to feature in first-class since, albeit played in the 2023 T20 Tournament and looks set for professional cricket in 2024/25 following his move to Moors Sports Club.

Jayasekara remains a very useful prospect, as he also proved during his maiden UK stint in 2024. Playing as Cowdrey's 2nd XI overseas player in the lower reaches of the Kent League the Sri Lankan starred hitting 901 runs at 47.42 alongside 18 wickets at 22.06 with best performances of 173 and 7/6 with bat and ball, respectively.

The talented Sri Lankan all-rounder, who is now a qualified coach, is eager to return to Northern shores in 2025.
