Himasha Liyanage

Himasha Liyanage is an experienced and dynamic batting all-rounder who has been competing at First-Class level in Sri Lanka for the best part of a decade.

Since making his First-Class debut for Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in December 2016, Himasha has gone on to play 175 matches across all three formats, representing Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, Negombo Cricket Club and, most recently, Ace Capital Cricket Club, for whom he remains an active player having featured as recently as January 2026. A consistent top-order presence, he has scored 2,594 First-Class runs at an average of 30.16 with a highest score of 116, alongside a further 1,637 List A runs at 28.71 (high score 101 not out) and 713 T20 runs at 19.80. His career tally across formats stands at three centuries and 34 half-centuries, reflecting his consistency as a top-order run-scorer in all conditions.

While he has occasionally bowled his off-spin in First-Class cricket, Himasha has rarely been used with the ball at professional level in Sri Lanka — an attribute that, as his time in England would go on to demonstrate, adds considerably more value in club cricket.

Himasha made his move to English club cricket in 2026, joining Stafford CC in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League, and produced an outstanding debut season across all competitions. With the bat, he scored 2,022 runs at an extraordinary average of 65.23 from 39 innings, striking eight centuries and eight half-centuries, with a high score of 186 not out. He complemented that with the ball, taking 53 wickets at an average of 16.21 and a best of 4/23 from 257.2 overs — a genuine dual-threat return that placed him among the standout overseas performers in the league.

Following that outstanding season, Himasha has signed for Ashton CC in the Greater Manchester Cricket League for the 2027 campaign, where he will look to continue the same run-scoring and wicket-taking form that made him one of the standout overseas performers in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League.
