James McSweeney (22) is a talented spin bowling all-rounder from Christchurch, New Zealand.
A skilful slow-left-arm orthodox, McSweeney is a British Passport holding New Zealander, currently playing for Riccarton Cricket Club in the highly regarded Christchurch Metro Premiership.
Plying his trade in the lower grades over recent seasons, the 22-year-old has now made the step up over the last 18 months, has now played over 30 1st grade games.
A Canterbury Country representative throughout age-group cricket, McSweeney was a leading wicket-taker throughout High School Cricket before transitioning into senior cricket in 2020/21.
Last season in NZ the Kiwi took 29 wickets at 14 including a match winning 8/15 against Sydenham back in November 2024. He also chipped in with valuable runs with the bat.
The British Passport holder played for Earlswood Cricket Club in the UK for 2025 in the Warwickshire County Cricket League. He excelled with 550 runs at 45 and took 44 wickets at 10 for the 1st XI side.
He is now keen to return to UK shores for 2026 and no doubt an excellent option.
