James McSweeney (22) is a talented young bowling all-rounder from Christchurch, New Zealand.
A skilful slow-left-arm orthodox, McSweeney is a British Passport holding New Zealander, currently playing for Riccarton Cricket Club in the highly regarded Christchurch Metro Premiership.
Plying his trade in the lower grades over recent seasons, the 22-year-old has now made the step up over the last 18 months, now holding 25 Premier 1st Grade Caps as of January 2025.
A Canterbury Country representative throughout age-group cricket, McSweeney was a leading wicket-taker throughout High School Cricket before transitioning into senior cricket in 2020/21.
With 17 wickets to his name this season, the tweaker is averaging just 12.53 with the ball in hand, including a match winning 8/15 against Sydenham back in November 2024.
Also a handy right-handed middle-order batter, the Kiwi is capable of contributing valuable lower order runs when the opportunity comes his way.
The young spinner, will embark on his maiden voyage to the UK, having signed for Earlswood Cricket Club for the 2025 Warwickshire County Cricket League campaign.
