Joe Heywood is a talented right arm seam bowler from Somerset, England.
A genuine front-line seamer, Joe is known for his ability to swing the ball and deliver under pressure. Though often utilised with the new ball, his control and tactical nous also make him highly effective through the middle overs and at the death. With the bat, he is a composed lower-order right-hander capable of rotating strike and contributing valuable runs when required. Joe is also a dynamic and athletic fielder with sharp hands and excellent awareness in the field.
At club level, Joe represents Bath Cricket Club’s First XI in the West of England Premier League, having made his debut at just 16. In his debut season, he was part of Bath’s WEPL title-winning squad. His standout performances in 2024 included back-to-back five-wicket hauls (5/33 and 5/23) on consecutive days against top-level opposition—highlighting his ability to influence games across multiple formats.
Joe’s talent was recognised early, and he joined the Somerset Pathway in 2018. His development through the system culminated in Academy induction in 2024. In 2023, he made his Senior 2nd XI debut for Somerset, and in 2024, his form earned him a List A debut in the One-Day Cup—a major step on the professional ladder.
His rise continued with selection in the ECB Super 4s, where he played a crucial role in the South West Region’s championship-winning campaign, a tournament featuring the top 50 U18 players in England. This led to England U19 selection for a tri-series against Ireland and Scotland, and ongoing involvement in training camps throughout the winter.
To broaden his experience further, Joe has also been inducted into the Devon NCCA squad for the 2025 summer season.
Set to complete his final school exams shortly, Joe is eager to fully immerse himself in cricket, with the goal of a season Down Under in 2025/26 to develop his craft further in Australian conditions.
With his proven record at club, county, and international youth level, Joe Heywood would be an exceptional acquisition for any club seeking a high-quality seam bowler with a professional mindset and serious potential.
