Joseph Kelly is an exciting wicketkeeper-batsman from Perth, Australia, known for his sharp glovework and aggressive top-order batting.
Holding a British passport, Kelly has already built an impressive cricketing résumé. He represented Western Australia Under-19s at the National Championships and currently captains the First Grade side at Melville Cricket Club in the highly competitive WACA Grade Competition. Across three WA club seasons to date, he has scored 961 runs at an average of 16.86 with a top score of 69, and has proven himself a genuine asset behind the stumps, claiming 51 catches and 17 stumpings in 63 matches.
Kelly's wicketkeeping credentials were further recognised when he was awarded a place on the prestigious Rod Marsh Wicket Keeping Academy Scholarship — a program created in honour of the late Rod Marsh to provide elite one-on-one coaching to the state's most promising wicketkeepers. Widely regarded as one of the standout glovemen in Western Australia, Kelly has his sights firmly set on breaking into the WA setup for the Futures League.
With the bat, Kelly continues to develop as a dependable contributor. During the 2024/25 season he scored 440 runs at an average of 20.95, with two fifties and a top score of 69, before taking on the responsibility of batting at number three in 2025/26, a season in which he scored 348 runs including a top score of 67.
Off the field, Kelly is equally committed to developing the next generation of cricketers. A Level 1 qualified coach, he works as a wicketkeeping coach with the Rod Marsh Wicket Keeping Academy at the WACA and has been coaching with the Perth Cricket Academy for the past five years.
Kelly returned to the UK for the 2026 season with Reigate Priory Cricket Club in Surrey, scoring 392 runs at an average of 21.78 with a top score of 55, and contributing 11 catches and 7 stumpings behind the stumps. This follows a hugely successful debut UK stint with Wimborne in 2023, where his outstanding campaign for the 1st XI saw him score 597 runs at an average of 54.27, including two centuries, playing a pivotal role in the club's Dorset Premier League title victory; across all cricket for Wimborne that season he scored 932 runs at 51.78, adding a further 22 catches and 7 stumpings in the field.
