Kalana Perera

Kalana Perera is a tall, left-arm pace bowler making his mark in Sri Lankan domestic cricket with the star-studded Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club. Known for his powerful in-swingers, Perera has consistently impressed across all three formats, earning recognition at the Under-19, Emerging Player, and A levels for Sri Lanka.

Perera’s rise began with his List A debut for the Sri Lanka Emerging team against Oman in November 2019, after which he has steadily built a strong reputation. A key highlight of his career came during the 2020/21 SLC T20 Tournament, where he led his former club, Sinhalese Sports Club, to their first title since the competition’s inception in 2005. Over the next three seasons, he dominated the Sinhalese T20 wicket charts and became a regular feature in the Lankan Premier League, representing Dambulla Aura.

With over 100 domestic matches under his belt, Perera boasts impressive statistics — averaging in the mid-20s in both first-class and List A formats, and an exceptional 15.34 in 32 T20 matches, underscoring his potency in the shortest format.

While primarily celebrated for his seam bowling, Perera is also a promising middle-lower order batter. Though yet to fully showcase his batting potential in domestic cricket, he is confident in his ability to evolve into a genuine all-rounder in the future.

In 2024, Perera embarked on his first overseas stint with Dorridge in the competitive Birmingham and District Premier League. There, he continued his fine form, claiming 52 wickets at an average of 17.21 while also contributing useful runs — a strong start to his international club cricket journey.
