Kalana Perera is a tall left-arm pacer playing for the star-studded Sinhalese Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
Known for his booming in-swingers, Perera has excelled across the three formats culminating with Sri Lankan honours at U19, Emerging Player, and A level.
An exciting prospect, Perera made his List A debut for the SL Emerging team against their Oman counterparts in November 2019 and hasn’t looked back.
During the 2020/21 SLC T20 Tournament, Perera led Sinhalese to their maiden title since its inauguration in 2005. Over the past three seasons, he has topped the Sinhalese T20 wicket charts and been a Lankan Premier League (LPL) regular for Dambulla Aura.
As it stands, Perera is quickly moving towards 100 domestic matches where he boasts tremendous numbers, averaging mid-20s in both first-class, and List A, and the remarkable average of 13.94 in his 29 T20 matches.
Whilst known for his left-arm seamers, Perera is a more than capable batter in the middle-lower order. Opportunities have yet to come his way in domestic cricket with bat-in-hand, but he feels he has the ability to become a genuine all-rounder in future.
The Sri Lankan prospect is clearly a player for the future who is set to embark on his maiden UK stint in 2024 having signed with Dorridge for their Birmingham and District Premier League campaign.
