Katene Clarke is an exciting batting talent representing Northern Districts in New Zealand domestic cricket. He has recently concluded a remarkable 2025/26 Super Smash, amassing 431 runs at an average of 61.57 and a strike rate of 171.71 including notable scores of 97 (58 balls) v Canterbury, 54 (27) v Wellington, 60* (37) v Central Districts, and 100* (54) v Otago —performances that earned him three Man of the Match awards. Courtesy of his exploits, Clarke was awarded the Super Smash MVP, and rightly so!

Long regarded as a future star, Clarke represented New Zealand at the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup alongside players such as Rachin Ravindra and Finn Allen, highlighted by a commanding 60 against a strong England attack. He made his domestic debut for Northern Districts across List A, First Class, and T20 formats during the 2019/20 season.

Clarke’s impact at domestic level has been significant. He was named T20 Super Smash Player of the Year in 2021/22, sharing the honour with Tim Seifert, after delivering a series of match-winning performances—including a decisive 90 in a successful run chase against Auckland and scoring the competition’s only century that season. He followed this with a solid 2024/25 campaign, registering 282 runs at an average of 35, and has continued to impress this summer, fishing as competition’s top run-scorer.

In 2025, Clarke expanded his experience overseas with a stint in the Netherlands for VVV, finishing as one of the Hoofdklasse’s leading run-scorers with 590 runs at 36.88. Following his success abroad, the in-form Northern Districts batter is seeking a return to Europe for the 2026 season.
