Following his barnstorming debut Plunket Shield (first-class) season in 2015/16 (667 runs at 60.63), McClure has become a key member of the Canterbury top-order across all formats where he regularly tops the sides' campaign run charts.
Known for his ability to “go big”, McClure not only boasts a first-class double (210), but also has notable Plunket Shield scores of 193*, 165, and 152.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has earned New Zealand A honours, and has also enjoyed success abroad playing three UK club stints.
Prior to breaking into the Canterbury set-up, McClure played two seasons in the North East Premier League, hitting 1,680 runs at 33.60 for Blaydon (2014-15). He ventured back to the UK in 2019 and enjoyed a prolific stint for Witham in the Two Counties Cricket Championship racking up 690 runs at 49.29, and showing his all-round ability bagging 32 wickets at 15.59 with his economical off-spin.
After a few years away from UK league cricket, the Canterbury run machine is keen for another stint in 2024. He is someone that comes highly recommended, not only as a fine cricketer, but top bloke off the field.
