Lahiru Jayakody

Lahiru Jayakody is an exciting top-order batter from Gampha, a city very close to Colombo in Sri Lanka. Having gained a bit of First class experience over the years – Lahiru is looking for his first-class career to take off again just like his first year in domestic cricket back in 2016.

He made his debut back in December 2016 - playing for Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club and showed plenty of promise in his first season in the Premier Tournament (First Class Competition), striking an impressive 676 runs in 17 innings boasting an average of 42.25 at the young age of 21. His best score was a sublime 118* against Sinhalese Sports Club in his maiden year. He also respectively back this up with a further 5 half-centuries in the same season.

Lahiru since has spent a bit of time applying his trade around the world. Having had stints in both the UK and Australia. Having spent 2 seasons apiece in either country over recent years finding his form again to return to first class cricket to pursue his dream of playing for the Sri Lankan National team.

Lahiru's best season came for Haverigg CC in the UK season of 2019. Lahiru hit a whopping 818 runs in 20 innings which left him with an astonishing average of 62.92 that year. Boasting 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries, his best innings being an immaculate 122 runs in 117 balls against Hawcoat Park CC.

Lahiru Jayakody has more recently been back playing Domestic cricket for Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club in the 2021 season. Still possessing his quality and composure at the top order, he is seeking a gig out in Australia for the 2022/23 season in order to progress himself ready for the 2023 Sri Lankan Domestic season. Hopefully, he can showcase his quality and find the right club in Australia to make this all happen.
