Larry Edward is an extremely talented left-arm spinner playing for the Windward Islands in the West Indies first-class and List A competitions.
Over the past few years, Edward has shared the Volcanoes dressing room with the likes of Windies players Shane Shillingford, Sunil Ambris, Kirk Edwards, Andre Fletcher, and Obed McCoy, to name just a few.
He has impressed in both formats, taking 67 wickets at 27.498 (FC), and 45 wickets at 25.86 (List A), in his 21, and 36, matches, to date.
Hailing from the Helen of the West Indies, Edward skippered the St Lucia Under-15s, and 17s, before leading the Windward Island’s at Under-17, and 19 level. During this time, Edward was scouted for UWI (University of the West Indies) to pursue not only a career in cricket but also obtain a degree.
The academic achieved success in both capacities, making his Windward Islands senior debut during the 2015/16 season, then List A the following year (2016/17) for the Combined Campuses and Colleges. Edward would return to the Windward Islands in 2017/18, where he has excelled since.
He was the stand-out spinner for his side during the 2018/19 WICB Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament taking 27 wickets at 31.33, including his maiden 5-wicket haul (5-67). The same year he bagged 13 wickets at 16.30 in the List A format with a career-best 4-34.
Whilst he was surprisingly overlooked in red-ball cricket in 2019/20, he continued to shine in the one-day format, which he continued into the 2021/22 season. He then returned to the first-class fold during the Volcanos' 2022/23 campaign and excelled bagging 14 wickets at 13.50 including career-best first-class figures of 6-43 (and match figures of 9-81) against Barbados.
Alongside domestic cricket, Edward has starred in both the Vincy Premier League (13 wickets at 20.38) and 6ixty Cricket T10 (11 wickets at 9.64) competitions in recent years.
The left-arm tweaker, who is also a competent batter in the lower-middle order, is now eager to secure a UK stint in 2024 and any other global opportunities that come his way.
