Mark Pearse is an exciting young talent who made an immediate impact in South African first-class cricket during the 2022/23 season.
Opening the batting for Easterns on debut in the CSA 4-Day Series, Pearse announced himself with a brilliant match-winning century—blasting 115 from just 105 balls in a successful chase of 327 against a strong KwaZulu-Natal Inland attack featuring Keith Dudgeon, Stefan Tait, Tiaan Koekemoer, Malcolm Nofal, and Mark Erlank.
He followed that up with another explosive hundred (116), finishing the campaign with 352 runs at 39.11 across five matches, scoring at a remarkable strike rate of 107.31.
At club level, Pearse has been a standout performer for Christian Brothers College Old Boys (CBCOB) in the Easterns Premier League and has made a big impression overseas. Across two dominant seasons (2022–23) with Pelsall in the South Staffordshire County League Premier Division, he scored 1,528 runs at 37.27 and claimed 43 wickets at 26.72.
In 2024, he joined Penkridge CC and returned for the 2025 season, where he’s continued to thrive—averaging 52 with the bat, including two centuries and eight fifties, with a top score of 172.
Pearse is looking to return to the UK for the 2026 season.
