MD (Mohammad) Mithun is a highly decorated and accomplished cricketer who has been one of the most consistent performers in Bangladesh in recent history.
A quality top order batter/keeper, MD is also a capable off spinner (evidenced by his first class best of 7/75).
The experienced pro has dominated all formats for several domestic teams in his homeland. He has a first class best of 206 at an average around the 32 mark, a list A best of 121* at a similar average and a T20 best of 84* at an average of 22.92. These numbers not only show his versatility as a batter, but also show how consistent he has been, which is of course the hallmark of the best players.
This consistency of performance was rewarded by international recognition. He has featured in 10 test matches, 34 ODI's and 17 T2O internationals for his beloved Bangladesh. Whilst he did not nail his spot in the test team, he did manage to score x2 half centuries which included 67 on his debut against Zimbabwe. He also made a quality 63 against a Pakistan attack featuring the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Yasir Shah. Arguably his best days as an international player were in the one day format, where he made x6 half centuries at an average of 27.46. To play so many international games is testament to the man, who is highly respected in his homeland. He also featured at the 2009 and 2016 T20 world cups, along with the ODI World Cup in 2019.
Now 33 and back to performing in domestic cricket, MD is enjoying his time playing for Chittagong in the BPL where he continues to be a mainstay of the side. He comes recommended by fellow Bangladesh international Enamul Haque as someone who would be a top tier club cricket professional.
For any club looking for a professional right out of the top drawer, we recommend MD Mithun highly.
