Shamsur Rahman

Shamsur Rahman is a seasoned Bangladeshi cricketer renowned for his solid top-order presence and aggressive stroke play. A right-handed opener, he burst onto the international scene in 2013, making an immediate impact with a fluent 96 in an ODI against New Zealand, followed by a memorable century in just his second Test match. His T20I career includes a top score of 53 against Zimbabwe, showcasing his versatility across formats.

Domestically, Shamsur etched his name into the record books as the first Bangladeshi batter to score an unbeaten 226 in a single day of first-class cricket. Over a prolific first-class career spanning 155 matches, he has amassed 9,468 runs at an average of 36.98, including 23 centuries and 46 fifties, with a highest score of 267. A handy part-time spinner, he has also chipped in with 23 wickets.

In white-ball cricket, his consistency continues with 5,454 runs at 31.89 in List A matches and 1,965 runs at 22.58 in the T20 format.

Shamsur has also thrived overseas, enjoying back-to-back English league seasons. He tallied 1,067 runs at 26.68 and took 27 wickets at an impressive 19.89 across stints with Burslem (2023) and Leek (2024) in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League.

As his playing career nears its conclusion, Shamsur is preparing for a new chapter in coaching. With a particular focus on batting, he aims to share his experience, guide young players, and contribute meaningfully to the next generation of cricketers through structured, high-level mentorship.
