Methushan Thilina is yet another stand-out left-arm spinner coming through Sri Lanka’s domestic ranks.
The tweaker, who plays for Kandy Customs, has been in stellar form of late across the three formats. In May/June 2022, he topped SLC’s Major Clubs T20 Tournament bagging 17 wickets at 8.47. He would then scalp a further 19 wickets at 21.10 in the Limited Overs Tournament in July.
Thilina, who is also a useful batter in the lower-middle order, has enjoyed success during the current Major League tournament taking his first-class wicket tally to 26 wickets at 28.73, including career best figures of 5-80 (39.1) against Galle Cricket Club recently.
A schoolboy, and age group representative star (for sides including Senanayake College, Nugegoda U23s, and Ace Capital U23s), Thilina has now made a serious impression in domestic cricket.
The left-armer is now set to do likewise in the UK having recently signed with Cawthorne for their 2023 Cricket Yorkshire Southern Premier League campaign.
