A fluent right-handed top-order batter and accomplished left-arm finger spinner, Monam currently represents St Cross Symondians Cricket Club, where he has become a major contributor with both bat and ball. During another excellent summer, Abbas amassed 633 runs at an average of 24.35 while claiming an outstanding 55 wickets at 21.25, playing a significant role in St Cross' Premier League title-winning campaign.
A product of the Hampshire County Cricket Club pathway, Monam's talent was recognised from an early age. He represented the South of England at Under-15 and Under-17 level before earning a Hampshire Academy contract between 2017 and 2019. His progression also saw him represent Hampshire Second XI in both 2019 and 2023. His development was interrupted during the Covid period when family circumstances saw him relocate to Pakistan for two years.
Still harbouring ambitions of progressing into the professional game, Monam continues to test himself at a high level. His performances in one of the country's strongest ECB Premier Leagues have been complemented by his involvement with Dorset in the NCCA Championship, where he continues to push his case for higher honours.
Importantly for prospective Australian clubs, Abbas already possesses considerable experience in local conditions. During the 2024/25 season, he enjoyed a superb campaign with Ivanhoe Cricket Club in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association, producing 697 runs and 22 wickets. His outstanding all-round performances earned him selection in the CricX Team of the Year.
Following that success, Mohammad was recruited by Port Fairy Cricket Club in Warrnambool as their overseas professional, where he has once again demonstrated his quality. The Englishman has taken the competition by storm, scoring well over 500 runs while rapidly approaching 50 wickets at an average of just 12, further underlining his ability to dominate with both skillsets in Australian conditions.
