Mohit Jangra is a truly outstanding all-rounder making waves in Indian domestic cricket, currently starring for Mizoram with consistent impact both with bat and ball.
A prodigy from a young age, Jangra dominated the youth circuit—shining in the Cooch Behar Trophy, Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy, and the U19 Challenger Trophy. His talent earned him a spot in the India U19 squad for the 2018 Asia Cup, where he was the team's leading seamer, highlighted by his excellent 3-25 in the semi-final as India lifted the title.
In 2019, Jangra was picked up by Uttar Pradesh, making his debuts in all three domestic formats. However, like many, his progress was disrupted by the COVID pandemic. Undeterred, he recently returned strongly to the domestic scene representing Mizoram, where his performances have been exceptional.
His 2023/24 season was particularly spectacular. After a strong List A showing including an all-round masterclass (91* and 4-25) against Bihar, Jangra made his Ranji Trophy debut in January 2024 with an immediate impact: scoring a sensational 126 from number 7 with 10 fours and 7 sixes, while also taking 7 wickets in the match. Despite his heroics, Mizoram narrowly lost.
Jangra kept up the momentum in subsequent matches — hitting an unbeaten 113* and taking 6-52 against Nagaland, followed by a match-winning 11-wicket haul including a hat-trick versus Arunachal Pradesh. He closed the campaign with eye-catching stats of 417 runs at 41.70 and 43 wickets at 19.95, a phenomenal all-round debut season in first-class cricket.
Although his 2024/25 season was less prolific, he still played a vital role with 276 runs at 46 and 19 wickets at 35.52, proving his consistency.
On the franchise front, Jangra has been involved with IPL teams Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, highlighting his growing reputation.
Looking to expand his horizons abroad, he had a very successful 2024 Liverpool League stint with Highfield, scoring 685 runs at 52.69 and taking 73 wickets at just 12.66. His exploits prompted Highfield to re-sign him for 2025, though he didn’t quite replicate his outstanding form.
With a bright future ahead, Mohit Jangra is keen to return to the UK in 2026 to build on his overseas credentials and continue his journey as one of India’s most exciting young all-rounders.
