Monde Maqunqu is a highly promising talent currently playing professional cricket in South Africa.

A classy left arm spinner, Monde has began to make a real mark at the top level and is starting to put in some significant performances in one of the strongest domestic systems in the world.

Following his debut in February 2023 for the ITEC Knights, Monde has taken 24 first class wickets from just ten games played. His best figures at the time of writing are a match winning 6/82, taken against a star studded Boland team. His second innings haul went a long way to securing a brilliant win for his team and included the notable scalps of Proteas internationals Pieter Malan, Janneman Malan and Hardus Viljoen. He uses a mixture of control, guile and sharp spin to snare his wickets and looks to have the right toolkit to make a real impact In what would be his first trip overseas as a club cricket professional.

Monde has not had much chance to show of his batting skills at the top level, but he is keen to develop this area of his game and would be able to contribute good runs from the middle/lower order in club cricket. He is also a fantastic guy who has a real desire to be the best player he can be. With a reputation of a real team man, Monde would be a real good person to have around the club and would have a positive influence both on and off the pitch. He is also keen to coach whilst overseas and pass on his experiences at the top level to senior and junior players alike.

Monde would be a strong option for any club in need of a quality spinner who can contribute with the bat and be a general good influence around the club.
