Nikhil Gorantla is quite simply an outstanding batter, from Cambridge in the UK.
A genuine talent, it is fair to say that Nikhil is one of the best non contracted cricketers in the country but if his trajectory keeps on heading on its current path, he won't be without a contract in professional cricket for long. In club cricket, Nikhil has dominated with bat in hand wherever he has played, most recently featuring for powerhouse club South Northumberland CC in the strong North East Premier League. In his two seasons at the club, he has amassed 1,393 runs at an average of 43.53 with a best score of 134*. In the last two seasons alone he has smashed x6 hundreds and x5 half centuries for good measure. He was also named NEPL player of the season in 2023 as he averaged 75 in league cricket alone. Prior to his move up north, he turned out for another strong club Saffron Walden CC in the East Anglian Premier League.
His dominance at club level along with his undoubted ability led to National Counties selection, firstly for his home county Cambridgeshire CCC and then on to Northumberland CCC. He then went on to represent the NCCA Challengers XI which combines the best National County players from across the UK. He has a burning desire to become a professional cricketer and is on the right path for sure after performing brilliantly at County Second XI level for Warwickshire CCC, Essex CCC and Leicestershire CCC. He is banging on the door by sheer weight of runs and has a 200* vs Yorkshire 2nd XI to show he is also capable of putting big scores together. He also has scores of 118 vs Durham 1st XI, 143 vs Northants 2nd XI, 119 vs Essex 2nd XI and 100* vs Hampshire 2nd XI as evidence of his immense ability.
Nikhil is quite clearly one of the best options available for the coming season, he is ideally targeting a club in and around Melbourne with a view to playing some strong cricket to continue his ongoing development. He would be a real gem of a signing.
