Oliver Metcalfe is an exciting wicket-keeper batsman from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Metcalfe is a fluent right handed top order batsman, and impressive gloveman who is currently playing List A cricket for Munster Reds in the IP50 and IP20 series.
Having played for Ireland U15s, U17s, and U19s, Oliver made his debut for Ireland A at the age of 17, following a remarkable 123 not out in the Irish Cup. After finishing school, Oliver attended the Gary Kirsten Academy in Cape Town, where he honed his skills during the COVID-affected year.He then attended Durham University, dedicating three years to their UCCE program, where he showcased his talents in games against counties and in BUCS cricket.
Upon completing his university studies, Oliver returned to Ireland, to represent Instonians CC and Munster Reds. To date, he has amassed 433 runs for the Instonians 1st Team at an average of 54, along with 102 List A runs for Munster Reds in the IP50 series at an average of 34.
Oliver has now set his sights on a return to representing his country. In line with this, he has been encouraged and is eager to further develop his game by playing competitive cricket down under this winter.
For now, he remains focused on continuing his impressive form in Ireland this summer.
Oliver will take his talents to the Southern Hemisphere this winter as he has signed for St Josephs Cricket Club in the Geelong Cricket Association.
