Oliver Southon, a prolific bowling all-rounder from Portsmouth, England.
A product of the Hampshire County Cricket Club Pathway System, progressing from the U10's right through to the Academy and eventually earning his 2nd XI debut at just 17.
Since joining Southern Premier League giants Burridge Cricket Club in 2018, Southon has continued to impress, claiming 115 First XI wickets at an average of 21.97, and averaging 22 with the bat. He was instrumental in Burridge’s Hampshire Southern Premier League title and T20 Cup triumph in 2023, where he averaged an astonishing 11 with the ball in the shorter format.
Further recognition came through selection for Dorset County Cricket Club, where Oliver quickly established himself as a core member of the squad. A standout moment came during the NCCA showcase match against Hampshire CCC First XI, where he returned 4-51, including the scalps of First-Class regulars Nick Gubbins and Fletcha Middleton.
Ahead of the 2025 season, Oliver steps into a leadership role as captain of Burridge’s First XI and is determined to lead from the front in what promises to be a landmark year both individually and collectively.
Southon also brings with him experience on Australian soil, having spent a season in the Gold Coast as an 18-year-old. Now, older and more seasoned, he is eager to return to the Southern Hemisphere to make a significant impact with both bat and ball.
Holding his ECB Core Coach (Level 2) qualification, Oliver is also keen to integrate into a Club’s coaching structure and help mentor the next generation of cricketers, adding long-term value both on and off the field.
A genuine wicket-taker, an intelligent lower-order contributor, and a natural leader. Oliver would be an outstanding signing for any Club seeking a high-quality overseas with proven experience and leadership qualities.
