Palzor Tamang is an accomplished all-rounder playing for the Indian State of Sikkim in domestic cricket.
Since his debut in September 2018, Tamang has starred for the State, and was one of the stand-out players during the 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season.
Hailing from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, the mountainous northern State wedged between China, Bangladesh, Bhutan and, Nepal. Tamang has become a Sikkim legend.
In January 2020, he became the first Sikkim cricketer to take a 5-wicket haul in first-class cricket. He bagged 19 wickets at 32.15 (2019/20) that season, but this proved to be his breakthrough season.
Since then, Tamang has been a stand-out with both bat and ball. More often than not, Tamang opens the bowling and bats in the middle-order. Since COVID, he has Ranji Trophy averages of 35 / 20.41 (2021/22), 22.37 / 15.03 (2022/23), and, 35.11 / 25.10 (2023/24), with bat and ball, respectively.
Arguably his best Ranji outing last summer came against Arunachal, evidencing his all-round ability scoring 86 in the first innings before second-innings figures of 5-42 – his 6th five wicket bag, and 2nd half-century, to go sit alongside his career-best 106 scored during his 2022/23 campaign.
Tamang is a quality performer who is now eager to showcase his undoubted skills in UK club cricket. Given his all-round assets, he will be a sought after commodity for the 2025 season.
