Rahmanullah Zarma Khan (surname ‘Zadran’ on cricinfo), is an exciting prospect playing for Mis Ainak Region in Afghanistan domestic cricket.

A gifted batter, Khan represented his country at Under-19 level, including the 2020 World Cup in South Africa. He was Afghanistan’s third leading run scorer (115 runs at 28.75) in a side that featured international players Ibrahim Zadran, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad (Welsh Fire), and English league stars Zohaib Zamankhail (Liverpool), and Shafiqullah Ghafari (Richmondshire).

Prior to the World Cup, Khan had already broken into first-class cricket hitting 310 runs at 34.44 during his maiden season (2017/18). The 2021/22 season saw the return of domestic cricket following COVID, and Khan excelled in both first-class (349 runs at 43.62), and List A (239 runs at 79.66) cricket. He topped the Mis Ainak Region run charts, in a side that features CricX stars Shahidullah, and Zia Ur Rehman Akbar (former Lytham pro), then backed up with a further 153 runs at 25.50 during the brief 2022 season.

At the point of writing, Khan averages over 50 in one-day cricket, and seems set for a very bright future.

In a view toward his development, he would like to follow in the footsteps of his Afghan team-mates and play UK club cricket in 2024. A fantastic prospect, one who comes highly recommended for next summer.
