Rohan Sanjaya is a talented left-arm spin bowling all-rounder playing for Moors Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
A schoolboy prodigy, Sanjaya dominated age-group cricket, culminating with the Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer All Island ‘Best Bowler’ award (2019), and Sri Lankan U19 selection (2018-19).
Sanjaya played 18 matches (3 Test, 15 ODIs) for the U19s, bagging 37 wickets, including match-winning figures of 5-94 (32.2) and 4-37 (31) in his one Test outing against Australia.
Following his age-group dominance, Sanjaya has made a successful transition into professional cricket for clubs including Colts (2018/19-22/23), Badureliya (2023/24), and Moors (2024).
In his most recent SLC Major League One Day Tournament, Sanjaya once again starred taking 11 wickets at 16.90, taking his overall domestic tally to 61 wickets averaging late 20s.
Whilst known for his bowling prowess, Sanjaya can lay claim to genuine all-rounder status. He batted at 7 for Moors in the recent List A Tournament, one position behind Sri Lankan Test all-rounder (and recent first-class triple centurion), Ramesh Mendis. He currently has 549 runs at 17.71 in his 44 domestic innings, however, it’s worth mentioning that middle-order opportunities have been limited.
The SLA spin bowling all-rounder is eager to follow in the footsteps of his team-mates and secure a UK club in 2025, where he is keen to showcase his all-round skills. A high quality professional option for any club next summer, and given his skill set, we feel he’ll be a sought after acquisition.
