Rony Talukdar is a high quality Bangladesh international batter with an excellent professional career.
Rony is right-handed opening batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler. A long-time domestic stalwart, he began his career in 2008 with Barisal Division and established himself as a consistent run-scorer in Bangladesh’s first-class and limited-overs competitions. Across more than 115 first-class matches, Talukdar has scored over 6,100 runs at an average of 33.53, with 17 professional hundreds to boot, while also becoming a familiar presence in the Bangladesh Premier League, representing teams such as Dhaka Dynamites, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers as an aggressive top-order batsman.
Talukdar made his international debut in a Twenty20 International against South Africa on 7 July 2015 at Mirpur, opening the batting in Bangladesh’s eight-wicket victory. Despite a promising start, intense competition for opening positions limited his opportunities at the international level for several years. He returned to the national T20I setup in 2023, marking his comeback with a standout performance against Ireland on 27 March 2023 in Chattogram, where he scored an unbeaten 67 off 38 balls, his maiden T20I half-century, and helped Bangladesh post 207/5, their third-highest T20I total, in a match won via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
With one eye on the next phase of his career, Rony is keen to gain experience as a coach and pass on his significant experience to the next generation and would be looking to add value via coaching whilst in the UK, would be a fantastic person to have around the club for team mates and junior members alike, to learn from. He is also able to take the gloves should the club require a wicket keeper option.
Seeking his maiden UK stint, Talukdar represents a high level batting option and is someone we would highly recommend for any club seeking a stack of runs and a touch of international class this summer.
