Ross Whitfield (19) is a terrific young top-order batter from Durham, England.
A former England Under 19 International, the 19-year-old is a product of the Durham County Cricket Club pathway. Joining the County as a junior, the Blaydon based batter came through the age-groups at the club, going on to make his 2nd XI debut back in 2021.
Averaging 47 for his Country in Youth Test-Match Cricket, Ross spent the 2023 season representing England U19's numerous times throughout the summer. In club cricket, the opening batter currently plays for Burnopfield in the North East Premier League. Making the move from Chester-Le-Street at the beginning of the 2024 season, the right-hander had previously chalked up 433 runs in just 18 innings in 2023.
After starting the 2024 season strongly for his new club, Whitfield has already gone on to make 5 appearances for Durham 2nd XI this summer. No doubt a highly rated youngster, Ross boasts a solid technique and the ability to occupy the crease for long periods of time.
With aspirations to receive a full playing contract within the First-Class set up, he has now set his sights on a season in the Southern Hemisphere for the 2024/25 season. Holding an ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification, there is no doubt that the Northerner will be a valuable asset both on and off the pitch for his chosen club.
Ross has recently signed for Riccarton Cricket Club in the upcoming 2024/25 Christchurch Metro Cricket Association.
