Sakindu Wijerathne is quite the prospect who has made serious waves in Sri Lankan domestic cricket recently.

The left-arm spinner, who plays for Kurunegala, dominated first-class cricket towards the back-end of the 2022 calendar year.

In a period of 5 games spanning a month (Sept-Oct), Wijerathne would take figures of 4-104 (v Ragama), 3-47 & 6-20 (v Lankan), 4-109 (v Sebastianites), 3-115 (v Colombo), and 6-46 & 1-81 (v Galle).

As it stands, the tweaker has now taken 28 wickets at 22 in his 7 first-class games.

Unfortunately, due to academic studies, the former Sri Lankan U19 squad member (2022) has been unable to play domestic cricket in 2023, and is currently awaiting his Australian Student Visa to attend Swinbourne University of Technology to undertake a Computer Science Degree.

When he finally obtains this visa, he will be seeking a club in/around Melbourne for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

There are no overseas stats available for this player.
