Samantha Schutte is an incredibly talented, and highly driven, seam bowler playing professional cricket for the DP World Lions Women’s team in South African domestic cricket.

An age-group star, Schutte represented both the Lions and South Africa at underage level, including the SA U19A side after winning the Lions U19 player of the year (2017). She had previously represented the South Africa U21 side at the Indoor Cricket World Cup in 2015.

After dominating for Jeppe High School for Girls, and the Lions at age-group level, she was handed her professional debut in 2017/18 for Gauteng Women. She has since gone on to become a regular feature for the Lions and has, to date, played 27 matches across List A and T20 formats.

Last season (2022/23), Schutte was named the DP World Lions “most improved” player and, as it stands, has 13 wickets at 23.46 in her 14 T20 matches in the top tier of Women’s domestic cricket in South Africa.

An exciting seam bowling talent, who also has potential with the bat, is now eager to experience a season abroad for her development. A future international, Schutte is keen to impress in what will be her maiden stint overseas in 2024.
