Senash Fernando is a exiting prospect playing for Kandy Customs Sports Club in 2024/15, having moved from the Sri Lankan Air Force with whom he broke into domestic cricket last season.
A genuine all-rounder, Fernando bats in the middle order and bowls slow left-arm spin. The talented youngster has played 6 first-class, 9 List A, and 5 T20s in his fledgling career to date.
Fernando has long been regarded as a player for the future having excelled in under-age cricket. In 2022, he narrowly missed out on Sri Lankan U19 selection for their tour to England. Many felt he should have been a guaranteed selection following his barnstorming Sri Lanka Cricket Emerging Three Day Tournament, which included a 9 wicket haul (6-46 & 3-58) against Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club U23s.
However, in June and October 2022, Fernando would make his List A and first-class debuts for Sri Lankan Air Force, before his T20 debut the following year (May 2023). Whilst he has yet to transfer his dominance at junior level to the professional stage, it seems only a matter of time.
The talented all-rounder really is quite the prospect who is now looking to secure his first UK stint next summer. He is certainly a player we recommend, and given his "in demand" skill set, he'll be a sought-after acquisition. Senash also has the added bonus of having accomodation available in the Manchester area (M27 4AU) but is open to options from all over the UK.
