Shehan Fernando is a talented batting prospect playing for Police Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
Son of former domestic legend, and Sri Lankan selector Sajith, Shehan has played 120 matches, across the three formats, since his 2012/13 debut season.
He is approaching 4,000 runs, averaging a tick below 30, albeit these numbers are on the rise given his exploits in recent years.
A former Sri Lankan Under-19 representative, Fernando played 13 matches for his country, including the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Australia, alongside the likes of national stars Werrakkody and Dickwella. After stints with Colts (2012/13-15/16 - 1,179 runs at 30.23), Badureliya (2016/17 - 484 runs at 32.26), Ragama (2017/18-19/20 - 508 runs at 26.73) he has since played for Police Sports Club.
A diminutive, yet explosive batter, Fernando was set on a UK return in 2020, having signed with Old Elizabethan's following stints with Birmingham League clubs Harborne (2015 - 1,156 runs at 46.24) and Himley (2018 - 542 runs at 45.17). However, a certain pandemic jeopardised his return, and this summer he secured an opportunity to play Minor League cricket in America.
However, for next summer, the talented Sri Lankan run machine is now eager to secure another stint for the UK 2022 season.
