Sheshan Udara

Sheshan Udara Fernando is an emerging all-rounder currently making his mark in first-class cricket for Negombo Cricket Club in Sri Lanka. A genuine seam-bowling all-rounder, Sheshan combines powerful middle-order batting with strong seam bowling, boasting the skill set to be a standout overseas professional. With match-winning potential both with the bat and ball, he is steadily establishing himself at the top level of Sri Lankan domestic cricket.

Throughout his blossoming career, Sheshan has shown glimpses of his raw talent. His batting highlights include a List A century of 104 and a first-class best score of 97, demonstrating his ability to play impactful innings. Complementing this, he regularly takes the new ball in first-class cricket, with best bowling figures of 3 for 33, underscoring his value as a genuine bowling option.

In 2025, Sheshan ventured to England to play for Lytham in the competitive Liverpool League. While his batting returns were modest, averaging just under 20, he showed flashes of his talent, particularly with the ball, maintaining an impressive bowling average in the low 20s. Beyond his on-field contributions, Sheshan comes highly recommended by fellow Sri Lankan spinner and CricX client Nishan Peiris, who praises not only his cricketing ability but also his strong character and positive presence around the club.

He followed that up with a breakout 2026 season for Potterne in the Wiltshire County Cricket League, striking 890 runs at 55.63 — including three centuries and a highest score of 185 — while also taking 14 wickets at 24.14 with a maiden five-wicket haul (5/44). It's been comfortably his best season overseas to date, and Sheshan has already agreed to return to Potterne for the 2027 campaign.
