Snehith Reddy is one of New Zealand’s brightest young talents.
In July 2024, aged only 17, the Indian-born batting all-rounder received Northern District’s 16th and final domestic contract ahead of the 2024/25 season. Reddy is an exciting addition to an ND squad that also includes former Blackcaps Neil Wagner, and Jeet Raval, in a side that has featured the likes of Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Mitch Santner, and BJ Watlking in recent seasons.
Reddy, who is affectionately known as “Lucky”, is a batting all-rounder (off spin) who is still in his final year at Hamilton Boys’ High School. He has already made a huge impression at schoolboy, age-group, Minor Association, and Provincial A level to date.
Throughout the 2023 calendar year, Lucky represented Northern Districts at the U17, U19, and Provincial A Tournaments. He also featured for Hamilton (Minor Association) in the Fergus Hickey Rosebowl. Highlights including his century (111) for the latter against Counties-Manukau, and figures of 4-39 (17.4) against Auckland A.
Courtesy of his exploits, Lucky was named the New Zealand Men’s U17s Player of the Year and, in January 2024, represented New Zealand at the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. He impressed with a sensational 147* (125 balls) against Nepal in East London.
Lucky is a prodigious talent set for the big stage. He is looking to feature for Northern Districts throughout this summer, before embarking on a stint abroad in 2025.
