Sunzamul Islam is a high-quality Bangladesh international left-arm spin bowling all-rounder, boasting the perfect profile for club cricket.
His professional record alone speaks volumes about his pedigree, having taken 723 wickets and scored 5,063 runs across the top tiers of Bangladesh domestic cricket. In November 2023 he became only the fourth Bangladeshi bowler to reach 400 First-Class wickets, and he was the second-highest wicket-taker for Rajshahi Division when they won the National Cricket League title in 2018/19. These outstanding performances earned him international call-ups in both Test and ODI formats, though his international appearances — just four matches overall — might not fully reflect his immense talent, likely overshadowed during a career that coincided with the era of Bangladesh's legendary Shakib Al Hasan.
Sunzamul's credentials are further highlighted by his First-Class best bowling figures of 9 for 80 and a commanding top score of 172 with the bat, showcasing his genuine all-round ability. He remains an active first-team presence in Bangladesh domestic cricket, having played as recently as June 2026.
Sunzamul made an immediate impact in his debut UK season in 2026 with Cowdrey Cricket Club, scoring 554 runs at an average of 39.57 including five fifties and a top score of 88, while also taking 17 wickets at an average of 20.53 with best figures of 4 for 33 — a genuine two-way contribution that underlines exactly the kind of value he offers.
Widely regarded as one of Bangladesh's premier all-rounders, and given the premium placed on left-arm spin bowling all-rounders in club cricket, Sunzamul stands out as one of the best available options for the upcoming season, offering a rare blend of experience, skill, and match-winning potential.
