Supun Kavinda is a talented all-rounder currently playing for Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club, following previous stints with Chilaw Marians (2023/24), Tamil Union (2020/21–2022/23), and Sri Lanka Ports Authority (2019/20) in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
A genuine all-rounder, Kavinda is a left-handed batter who has opened successfully at Emerging level but more often features in the middle order in professional cricket. With the ball, he is a skilful slow left-arm spinner, particularly effective in white-ball formats, where he has consistently stood out.
He made his professional debut for Sri Lanka Ports Authority in December 2019 but has largely been utilised in limited-overs formats throughout his career. To date, he has featured in 27 List A games, 17 T20s, and just 6 first-class matches.
Kavinda has been a key contributor to several title-winning teams, including the 2021 and 2022 Major One Day Tournaments, the 2022 Mercantile Tournament, and the 2022 SLC Emerging Three Day Tournament. His standout performance in the latter helped Tamil Union U23s secure the title, as he finished as the side’s leading run-scorer with 410 runs at an average of 41, including a brilliant 173 against Nugegoda. That team also featured prominent players such as recent Sri Lanka white-ball international Ravindu Fernando, and current Emerging stars Navod Paranavithana and Santhush Gunathilake.
In 2025, Kavinda is enjoying a strong maiden UK season with Spring View CC, where he has taken an impressive 46 wickets at 14.65, including best figures of 6 for 5. He has also contributed with the bat, recording a top score of 62 not out.
Note: Kavinda's eligibility window for UK club cricket (based on 5 FC matches in the last 36 months) remains open until 30 Sept 2025.
