Techi Doria may not be a household name in domestic cricket yet, but he is very famous in Nyopang Village in Arunachal Pradesh.

Since November 2018, Doria has represented the State across the three formats and, in September 2022, played in the Duldeep Trophy for North East Zone.

However, the all-rounder is perhaps equally famous for his long-braided hair which has drawn comparisons with the legendary Jamaican singer Bob Marley. Go to his village and ask for Bob Marley and people will point out Doria’s house!

Back on the cricket field, and you’ll find Doria churning plenty of runs and wickets. He has played near 100 matches for his beloved State and has evidenced his all-round ability, across all formats.

He boasts a domestic century (122 in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match) and best first-class match figures of 5-72 (Ranji Trophy). It’s fair to say he is an integral part of Arunachal Pradesh’s set-up given his all-rounder ability.

It were these skills that earned him Duldeep honours for North East Zone recently, pitting him amongst the top 100 players in the country. Doria opened the batting for his side, but they were trounced against the star-studded West Zone whose top three (Prithvi Shaw, Yashashavi Jaiswal, and Ajinkya Rahane) all scoring centuries.

But, Doria was amongst the big boys of Indian cricket. He had found his place in the game. Now “Bob Marley” is looking to travel abroad to play further cricket.

He would be joining a club in fine form. In Ranji Trophy cricket this summer he currently sits inside the top 20 run scorers, with 411 runs at 58.71 with 6 fifties in his past 4 matches namely 60 (v Sikkim), 50 & 56 (v Mizoram), 97* & 58 (v Hyderabad), and 51 (v Nagaland). He's also been amongst the wickets, taking poles with his leg-spin in each of his Ranji matches this season.

Following his Ranji season, the talented all-rounder will wing his way to the UK having signed with Wolverhampton for their 2024 Birmingham and District Premier League campaign.
